As soon as you arrive at our "Cozy Cottage," the relaxation and peacefulness begins. Although there is so much going on and so many places within close proximity to enjoy, we encourage you to take your time and to settle in. You will find everything you need to enjoy your stay and to feel cozy. After you get settled, you will probably want to explore the beautiful area. The water is less than a five minute drive away. There you can indulge yourself in our magnificient sunsets! There are so many different vantage points to view the closing of another day. At your request, we will pack a picnic basket and send you on your way!
Our favorite little town, that we highly recommend, is Dunedin. Just a few miles away, it is located right on the water. We lived there for two years and absolutely love it! Dunedin has many beautiful parks and areas to enjoy a picnic and gorgeous sunsets! The Pinellas Trail goes right through the center of town. There are cafes to enjoy right on the Pinellas Trail, or just a few steps from it. On the second Friday of every month, there is the "Wine and Art Walk" where the shops remain open late. The shop owners invite you in and treat you like family. You have an opportunity to win wonderful prizes too! There is also a farmer's market in the park with wonderful selections to purchase and enjoy on Saturdays.
In addition to our wonderful shops and events, we have award winning beaches, which are a short drive from the cottage. We can provide the chairs and blankets. After a day at the beach and receiving your sun glow, you will probably want to treat yourself to one of the many area cafes. Almost every weekend something special is happening not too far away. There are so many places to sit and enjoy all types of music!
You might want to take a very scenic ride to Tarpon Springs, which is like being in coastal Greece. It is less than 10 miles north of us and so worth the trip! One weekend of every month, they have their street fair and celebration -- you will swear you have left the USA! There will be Greek dancing music playing with lots of Greek food to enjoy and the locals speaking Greek all around you! Tarpon Springs is known for their abundance of sponges deeming it the "Sponge Capital of the USA."
If you would like to take another direction and want to visit another quaint little town, just east of us and much closer than Tarpon Springs, is Safety Harbor. Known for the world famous Safety Harbor Resort and Spa, it is situated right on the bay and hosts many festivals and fairs. Book yourself a spa treatment or just pretend to be staying at the Spa and indulge in some spa food (their restaurant is open to the public). Or you can stroll along the avenue and venture into the town's little shops and restaurants.
On the south end -- and I do mean the very end of the mainland -- is Gulfport. A very historic little town and definitely worth exploring. There are many little stores and restaurants along with art shows and street fairs. Most of these little towns have their weekly farmer's markets providing all kinds of delicacies, treats and gifts.
